Ionut Cengher, leader of PNL Mures promoted at the head of the Mures Water Management System without any trace of professional experience, dissolves in the Facebook account of the branch of the liberal organization.

Cengher is the negative hero of an investigation by Recorder journalists and published on November 23. The journalists demonstrate how Cengher, secretary of the PNL Mures subsidiary, took his place, only by party affiliation, the director appointed by competition at the head of the Mures Water Management System.

The report caused riots in Romania, being commented on in various media. However, a day later, on November 24, NLP Mures officials posted on their Facebook account a portrait of Ionut Cengher, this time as a candidate of the PNL Mures branch for a senatorial position.

The announcement of the elections with the title “We are developing Mures!” presents Ionut Cengher and electoral promises of “attractive flight policy at Transylvania International Airport” or “assistance to local authorities, in order to achieve a local or regional travel program”.

In Recorder’s report, asked about his experience in the field of the institution where he was just appointed, Cengher calmly admits that he has none. His appointment was made possible along the party line after the liberal Ervin Molnar assumed the leadership of Apelor Romane.

The publication on Facebook of the PNL Mures is harshly criticized in hundreds of comments:

The accusations arose as a reaction both to the “execution” of the former director and to putting an inexperienced member of the party on the list and at the head of an institution.

Comments abound in criticism of the liberals’ “party policy” of removing professionals and replacing them with inexperienced party members.

One commenter writes that “This is the sales agent who became a director of ape mures through an application and didn’t even know what the water law is? A zero barat who became a party member to profit.”

Referring to the Recorder report, another user of the platform writes: “I think I would have kept quiet for at least a week in the hope of forgetting the world. We all know that in this country you don’t get to positions like this without battery. who were before him knew what and how he was doing. Unfortunately, these things are common in the Asian country, not only in Roman waters or in the forest department … Directors are people who have not worked for 1 day. in the countryside and then we complain that we burned to death in hospitals. #DezoltamMuresul ”.

Someone else points out that “Come on, soda, the pennies that Muresul is developing with political appointments in public office and they are pushing for the resignation of the competent people, who have held those positions through competition!

On Wednesday November 25, the direction of the National Water Administration of Romania sent a press release in which it strongly criticized the director who made the situation in Mures public. At the same time, he announces that he has fired Ionut Cengher, “as a result of his public statements that do not honor such an important institution in water management in Mures County.”

We present, below, the statement of Apelor Romane:

This morning, the management of the Mures River Basin Administration (ABA), after consulting with representatives of the management of the Romanian National Water Administration (ANAR), ordered the dismissal of the director of the Water Management System ( SGA), Ionut Cengher, following his public statements that he does not honor such an important institution in water management in Mures County.

In his place, George Vlasiu, a construction engineer employed by SGA Mures for more than 6 years, was temporarily appointed.

We remind you that the resignation of the former director of SGA Mures, Ovidiu Ianculescu, a case reported by the Recorder publication, was a personal decision, officially presented at the beginning of February of this year. He accepted the position of Chief Engineer within SGA Mures 5 days after this decision, consistent with his personal decision to retire from the position of Director of SGA Mures.

Furthermore, Ovidiu Ianculescu’s statements regarding the role and powers of the Director General of ANAR are incorrect.

According to the law, the general director of ANAR cannot remove, appoint or suspend a director of SGA. Therefore, Mr. Ovidiu Ianculescu submitted his resignation, in accordance with the law, to the Mures Basin Administration, respectively to the director of that period, Cristian Bratanovici, and not to ANAR’s management.

At the same time, in the Recorder report, Ovidiu Ianculescu talks about occupying the position of Director of SGA Mures as a result of a competition held in this regard.

We specify that Ianculescu’s statements do not refer to the period 2017-2019 when he held the position of chief engineer of SGA Mures, without a competition having been held in this regard and after his appointment by the then Director of ABA Mures, Cristian Bratanovici.

Finally, we consider that Ovidiu Ianculescu’s statements, eight months after all the related events, contain important omissions that may mislead the entire public opinion.

We mention that during the alert state, according to the law no. 55/2020, it is forbidden to organize competitions for these technical positions, and they will be resumed when the legislation allows it ”.
