The mayor general of the capital, Nicusor Dan, founder of USR, ran as an independent with the support of USR PLUS and PNL and urged Bucharest residents to vote in the 2020 parliamentary elections with PNL, refuses to enter into controversy with those who accuse you of USR PLUS. he would have scored better if he hadn’t been on the side of the Liberals.

What do you reply to those of the USR who say that if you had campaigned for the USR, otherwise things would have been for this party and your symbolic gesture of sending the people of Bucharest to vote with the PNL was to the detriment of the USR? Nicușor Dan was asked Tuesday night, on Digi24.

“I do not want to get into a controversy with the RSU and I do not want, above all, to go with the analysis that, of course, many people make about the numerous discussions in the public space between these parties that were going to govern. I don’t want to go into this area with analysis, “said Nicușor Dan.

“I am very happy at this time that we do not have elections for three and a half years. Today I had a General Council meeting, which I prepared with PNL and USR PLUS. All the projects that I proposed passed the vote of this majority. We have a majority that governs Bucharest and I am very happy with this situation, ”he added.

Nicușor Dan: “I am convinced that I will collaborate in an excellent way with the government”

On the other hand, he showed that he had a good collaboration with the liberal government led by Ludovic Orban and is convinced that he will also collaborate well with the next government. “I have collaborated excellently with the government until now, I collaborate excellently with the interim government because the ministers are the same, I am convinced that I will collaborate excellently with the right-wing coalition government that will come later. Because we need collaboration in Bucharest, to solve the problems of Bucharest. Romania also needs Bucharest. The more interesting Bucharest is for the business environment, for tourism, for the academic-cultural sphere, the more interesting is Romania. A collaboration is mandatory in both directions, ”said Nicusor Dan. “I am convinced that the projects will go further,” he added. When asked whether, for example, he will take the metro under the authority of the City Council, he said no at the moment, but there will soon be a single “real” ticket for public transport and the metro.

You founded USR, you voted with the NLP in the general elections and many ask: what are you? the moderator insisted.

“I founded USR, I left USR three and a half years ago (…) And I publicly put forward 6 arguments for which I said I would vote and I also voted for PNL. I am currently an independent mayor, not a member of any political party. However, because there were very important elections for Romania, I went out into the public space and said: 1. No matter how much you dislike the political class, go to the polls because it is important, here it was important, we passed the bullet in the ear and 2. among the political options, which are far from being perfect in Romania, I vote for NLP and here I explain why ”, said the Mayor General of Bucharest.

PSD would have performed better in parliament if Bucharest had won in local elections.

Nicușor Dan says that if the September municipal elections had been won by the PSD in the Capital, the score that the Social Democrats would have obtained in the December 6 elections would have been better. “The bullet went through our ears,” said the mayor, acknowledging that it was a victory to the limit, which is due, he says, to the fact that the right joined and supported his candidacy in Bucharest in local elections.

“It is good that we still have a majority on the right. On the other hand, the bullet went through our ears. I don’t know what would have happened if the left had won Bucharest two and a half months ago. It turns out now that the movement of the parties of right to have a single candidate for the City Council of the capital, ”stated Nicusor Dan, Tuesday night, on Digi24.

“It is the experience that we have all had in all the rows of elections that we have had so far in the last 20 years, in which the local elections in Bucharest have given a trend to the general elections. In my opinion, this effect would have been even more important now, because the elections were closer. It is a symbolic effect of the winner, ”he said.

Nicușor Dan explained what contributed to the parliament score: “In the general election we had various causes, let’s say. We had the crisis, which evidently eroded the party that assumed the government and implicitly demobilized some of the right-wing voters, and we had that effect of the local elections, which were two and a half months earlier ”.
