At least one person died and several were injured after an exchange of gunfire in central Vienna, with the interior minister speaking of a terrorist attack.

Kronen Zeitung talks about a terrorist attack in the Schwedenplatz area, claiming that one of the attackers detonated.
The cited source mentions that other attackers managed to escape and that there is information about the existence of several deaths.
The police urged the population to avoid the area.
