Nelu Tătaru specified that, if the rules and precautions are observed, from mid-October Romania could enter a downward slope of COVID-19 cases.

Regarding the opening of the school year, Tătaru said that at the moment there are 43 localities that have an infection rate of more than 3 per thousand, a situation in which the courses will be held online.

Another 14 localities have an index between 1 and 3 per thousand, which means a mixed system, online and with physical presence, while 2,728 localities have a contagion index below 1 per thousand and school classes are allowed in the classroom. In the latter situation, the rules of physical separation and disinfection must be observed, he emphasized.

“The school boards propose to the County Emergency Situations Committees the scenario that this class will follow. If they opt for scenario 1, face to face, then there must be that distance of one meter, there must be a mask and disinfectant, there must be those circuits that can be found both at the entrance of the school, as in the corridors during breaks and in the inner courtyard of the school. If that distance of one meter cannot be ensured, there are those separators that must be placed between the two children “. said the Minister of Health.

He also explained what happens if children become infected.

“When we have a child with a SARS-CoV-2 infection in a class, that child goes to the hospital unit and the others are quarantined at home and the class closes for 14 days. Three different classes go to Medical units and the others go to quarantine at home for 14 days and the school closes, ”added Nelu Tătaru.

As for the seasonal flu vaccine, the Health Minister said three million doses have been ordered, starting in mid-September.
