TAS, final decision in the fight between Adrian Mititelu and CSU Craiova!

Adrian Mititelu, owner of the FC U Craiova 1948 team, challenged in the TAS the decision of the FRF Executive Committee of July 3, 2019, in which it was approved that Mihai Rotaru’s team could use the name of University of Craiova, noting that in the event of a judicial decision that annuls the trademark, suspends or limits the right to use the respective trademark or annuls the contract to use the trademark, to return to the name registered in the records of the Mercantile Registry. However, TAS considered FRF’s decision to be legal and Mihai Rotaru’s team can still use the name of the University of Craiova.

In addition to this decision, the Laussane Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled that Adrian Mititelu’s team must pay a fine of 10,000 Swiss francs, being obliged to pay half of the amount to the rival in League 1 and half to the Romanian Federation soccer.

Mititelu can no longer use the name “University of Craiova”

3 weeks ago, the League 2 team announced on their Facebook account that they no longer have the right to use the name “Universitatea Craiova”. The decision belongs to the Bucharest Court of Appeal, and Mititelu’s team claims that it is an interim measure, until an agreement is reached between him and the Craiova University Sports Club. Therefore, the Mititelu team is playing under the name “U Craiova 1948” at the moment. (Details HERE)
