The Swiss government has ordered the blocking of the financial assets of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in the context of the crackdown on protests after the presidential elections.

In addition, Alexander Lukashenko, his son, Viktor Lukashenko, and 13 other Belarusian officials have been banned from entering Switzerland because of their responsibility for the violence against the Belarusian opposition.

“Switzerland is deeply concerned about the tensions in Belarus and calls for a dialogue between the Misnk administration and civil society,” the Berne government was quoted as saying by Mediafax.

The Belarusian opposition challenges the reelection of President Alexander Lukashenko, accusing the presidential election of fraud. Since then, protests have been rampant and law enforcement agencies have arbitrarily detained protesters. They accused him of having been tortured and ill-treated by the police.
