British physicist Stephen Hawking died at the age of 76. “We are deeply saddened by the death of our beloved father today,” said Lucy, Robert and Tim, the children of the deceased physicist.
“He was a great scientist and an extraordinary man whose activity and legacy will last for many years,” Stephen Hawking’s family said in a statement.
The family praised the physique for “courage and persistence,” adding that his “intelligence and humor” inspired people around the world.
The physicist passed away quietly at his home in Cambridge on Wednesday morning.
The professor recently spoke of the fact that he is grateful for his accomplishments, despite being diagnosed in 1963 with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
“Although I was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, I was very lucky in almost every other aspect of my life. I was fortunate to work in the field of theoretical physics in a fascinating period. This is one of the few areas where my disability is not a serious disability, “said Stephen Hawking.
“It is also important not to get angry, no matter how difficult life may seem, because you can lose all hope if you cannot laugh at yourself and at life in general,” he added.
Patients diagnosed with Stephen Hawking’s disease live, on average, 3 years, only 10% of them survive more than 10 years. However, the famous physicist managed to far exceed the hopes of doctors.
The teacher urged all people with physical disabilities to focus on the things they can do and not regret the things they cannot do.
He was head of the mathematics department at the University of Cambridge, a position previously held by Isaac Newton.
World renowned for his contributions to theoretical physics, Stephen Hawking is the author of “A Brief History of Time”, one of the most successful books in scientific literature.
