The mayor of the capital, Nicușor Dan, a guest on Digi24’s “In Front of You” show, said that he expects 10-15 faults to appear in the Bucharest district heating network every day. Nicușor Dan specified that the replacement of the pipes will begin next February, a process that could take up to seven years.
“What we are doing for February is emergency management, which means that we must be quick enough to repair the hundreds of damages that will occur this winter. I expect to have between 10 and 15 breakdowns a day.
As of February, the underlying theme continues, the replacement of the network. It will take 6 to 7 years, but specialists have identified which are the most problem areas, we will start with them.
The government will allocate 278 million euros for the rehabilitation of 106 km of the district heating network
Prime Minister Ludovic Orban announced on Thursday that the government adopted a memorandum for the rehabilitation of 106 kilometers of “primary network” in the capital’s district heating system.
He admitted that there would be “only one question to be resolved”, namely, if it is not about state aid, which would be contrary to European legislation, but assured that it is a contract that can be signed and that it will start.
“I can tell you for sure that the City Council of the capital and the elected mayor of Bucharest will be delighted to sign the financing contract for the rehabilitation of 106 km of the 946 km primary network, a contract worth 278 million euros, a contract in which, of course, we only have one issue to resolve, as regards the issue of state aid, but it is a contract that can be signed and that is going to start, and obviously it translates into the reduction of losses, the reduction in losses estimated at 6%, from 28.6 to 22.7 ”, explained Ludovic Orban, at the inauguration of Nicușor Dan.
