Worrying balance for some of the Romanians found in the workplace. According to statistics, 1,779 people suffered workplace accidents in the first six months of this year. With a percentage of 37.4% less than in the same period of 2019, and 46 of them lost their lives, according to data centralized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. It turns out that almost 5 Romanians die every month in work accidents.
The spring lockdown period, when a state of emergency was declared due to the pandemic, also contributed to the decrease in the number of workplace accidents.
The sectors of the national economy in which there were more work accidents were: retail trade, except motor vehicles and motorcycles – with 155 injured (8.7% of the total injured in the national economy), building construction – with 118 injuries (6.6% of the total), land transport and pipeline transport – with 100 injured (5.6% of the total) and activities related to human health – with 87 injured (4.9% of the total).
Most of the fatal work accidents were registered in the fields of forestry and forestry – with 12 fatal injuries (26.1% of total deaths in the national economy), building construction – with 11 fatal injuries (23.9 % of the total) and gardening and construction services, with 4 fatalities (8.7% of the total).
Most fatal accidents in the capital
In the first half of the year, a worryingly high number of occupational accidents was recorded in Bucharest: 378 injured (21.2% of the total injured in the country) and in the counties of Brasov – 117 injured (6.6% of the total), Timiş – 85 injured (4.8% of the total), Prahova – 75 injured (4.2% of the total) and Constanţa – 73 injured (4.1% of the total).
Most of the injuries who died on the job were registered in Bucharest. Harsh accusations! The government cannot solve the two daily pilgrimages in Bucharest! – 5 fatal injuries (10.9% of the total number of fatal injuries in the country) and in Bistriţa, Maramureş, Vrancea and Suceava counties – 4 fatal injuries each.
From the point of view of the age of the injured people, the analysis of work accidents highlighted that people aged 50 to 60 have the highest proportion, 29.3%, followed by people aged 40 to 50. years, which have a participation of 27.9%.
People in the age group 50-60 have the highest percentage, 43.5%, followed by people 40-50 years old, who have a 30.4% share of all fatal injuries in the first 6 months of 2020.
