The new education minister said the resumption of classes on January 11 is “too short” a deadline for schools to be physically reopened. Sorin Cîmpeanu explained that the Ministry of Education wants “the opening of schools as soon as possible” if the epidemiological situation allows it, Romania TV announces.
Schools will not reopen on January 11, the date set in the 2020-2021 school year structure. The Minister of Education did not present a concrete plan for the reopening of schools, but the institution he directs “wants the opening of schools as soon as possible.”
Sorin Cîmpeanu said that in less than two weeks the children will not physically return to school.
“It simply came to our attention then. January 11 is the deadline in a calendar that was built many months ago. The Ministry of Education, institutionally, wants the reopening of schools as soon as possible, to the extent that the epidemiological situation he allows it.

The return to school will be done taking into account what other states facing the same problem will do, ”said the Minister of Education, according to Ştirileprotv.
If students gradually return to school, the three familiar scenarios remain in place: red, green, and yellow. The Minister of Education announced the decision to open schools in stages, starting with kindergarten and primary education.
In fact, Sorin Cîmpeanu stressed that the health authorities will decide to reopen the schools.
The National Committee for Emergency Situations will decide to open schools, the Minister of Education only makes the proposal. “We have already prioritized kindergartens and primary education. We want this ”(reopening of schools and kindergartens), said the Minister of Education, Sorin Cîmpeanu.
“We know, they must open according to the calendar on January 11, the second semester begins on February 8, this is a zero emergency,” added Cîmpeanu.
