After a three-month period of tensions in the ruling coalition, USR is redirecting the NLP’s attacks on the president. Deputy Iulian Bulai, president of the Culture Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, criticizes Iohannis’s proposal for CNSAS.
“I consider this proposal to be inopportune. The Holocaust was one of the greatest crimes against humanity. All those who legitimize this crime or who try to beautify history cannot hold dignitary positions in the Romanian state,” Bulai wrote on Facebook. In reaction to an article that indicates that the president proposes journalist Oana Stănciulescu to the College of the National Council for the Study of Security Archives (CNSAS).
G4media.ro highlights that Stănciulescu, a former journalist for Antena 3 and Realitatea TV, harshly criticized a law that sanctioned the promotion of legionaryism and was harshly criticized by civil society in 2016, when the NLP proposed her as a member of the Board of Directors by TVR. At that time, the ‘Elie Wiesel’ Institute, the Israeli Embassy, but also dozens of public figures vehemently protested against the appointment of Oana Stănciulescu to head TVR. They accused her of promoting and expressing legionary views and denying the Holocaust.
