It is allowed to cross Hungary without restrictions, is the conclusion of the discussion of Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu with his Budapest counterpart Péter Szijjártó.

According to information provided by the MFA, the planned restrictions do not apply to Romanians transiting through Hungary or to cross-border workers.

According to the Hungarian official, the transit of the Hungarian territory will continue to be allowed under the same conditions and will take place through the same border crossings and in the same established road color. He pointed out that the rules that are expected to change refer to entering Hungary as the final destination of the trip ”, transmits MAE.

Currently, the following passenger transit conditions apply:

  • the duration of the transit should not exceed 24 hours;
  • people do not show specific symptoms of COVID-19 infection;
  • Present a document that unequivocally shows the purpose of the trip and the country of destination, respectively, having secured entry into the territory of the neighboring state of Hungary, located on the transit route to the country of destination.

If you intend to arrive in Hungary, that is, have this state as your final destination, you have some rules to follow:

  • on entry to Hungary medically examined; if you have specific symptoms of Covid-19, you will not be allowed access
  • If you do not have symptoms, you are required to stay 14 days (either institutionalized, in the hospital, or in isolation at home, if possible). Thus, at the border you will receive a red certificate that certifies the need for quarantine and that you will have to display, visibly from the outside, at the entrance of the house.
  • Get rid of the quarantine in Hungary if you present at the border two negative molecular tests for SARS-CoV-2 infection in the last five days, or proof that you have been cured of Covid-19 in the last six months. The two tests must be taken at least 48 hours apart and the certificates must be issued in Hungarian or English.
