Therefore, four researchers from Galaţi want to destroy the SARS CoV-2 virus with the help of a liquid obtained of fish scales. They did a project that was awarded and which aims, among other things, the use of scales in the fields of food, cosmetics and medicine.

The project was awarded in an event dedicated to the agri-food sector

The team from the Lower Danube University in Galați proposed an integrated start-up for smart fish waste recovery as an innovative solution. The researchers determined that a liquid can be obtained from fish scales that helps destroy the SARS CoV-2 virus. You can also get a powder with many possible uses. Last but not least, Omega3-6-9 oils are obtained from the processing of fish viscera, and the milling resulting from the extraction can be used as an organic fertilizer.

The researchers obtained a liquid that contains carbon nanopoints.

“It is a proposal for the intelligent use of scales and viscera, by-products resulting from the industrialization of fish, which were normally destroyed by burning. From fish scales (a product not yet sufficiently valued), a powder called hydroxyapatite is obtained, on the one hand, which can be used successfully in food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and medical areas, and on the other hand, a liquid that contains carbon nanodots, antimicrobial transport vehicles, that could help destroy the SARS CoV-2 virus. From the viscera processed in the supercritical fluid extraction plant within the SIA, valuable oils containing Omega3-6-9 can be obtained, and the milling resulting from the extraction can be an excellent organic fertilizer “explained researcher Maricica Stoica.

The contest, held exclusively online, took place between November 13 and 15 and brought together 44 researchers from various fields, gathered into 14 teams. At the end, 10 teams remained in the competition, which presented jury12 complete solutions, each of them being a response to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
