Romania vs. Hungary: “Indescribable Jeg, bomb-inflated cocalari, tattooed girls dancing lasciviously and drunk until dawn”

Andrei and Laura Pop are computer specialists and used to vacation in exotic destinations, but the health crisis and fear of potential problems led them to opt for more convenient nearby locations this year. A week in Hungary, on Lake Balaton, plus a week in Romania, in Mamaia, were the two stages in which the young people shared their holidays.

In his opinion, there is no comparison term between the two places. Their vacation at Lake Balaton delighted them, but the period in Mamaia left a sour taste.

“The first time I went to Lake Balaton was in late July or early August. Excellent conditions, quality hotel, attentive people to make us feel good, to return to them another time. Prices? Not exactly small, but reasonable anyway, compared to what we have. Good food, fresh, quality wines. Not to mention, everything was spotless, tear-clean and well-assembled. The hotel staff were well-trained, discreet, but at the same time ready to help us with anything we need. A young woman spoke to us in Romanian when she found out that we are Romanian, if at 2 o’clock in the night we woke up wanting something, they would spoil it and solve everything in 5 minutes, “says Andrei.

“They made a little pearl out of a basin”

“Lake Balaton is like a basin by our sea. And yet … From such a lake, which in our country would probably have been an ordinary one, overgrown and ignored, the Hungarians made a little pearl. Just me I wonder what they would have done if they had our coast, I can only imagine that they far surpassed the Bulgarians, “adds his wife.

After the week they spent at Lake Balaton, the two left for another 7 days on the Romanian coast.

“I haven’t been to the Romanian coast since I was a child. Two decades ago, Romanians needed visas to leave the country, plus money was a problem, so my family, like most Romanians, chose the coast. of the Black Sea. I had a kind of nostalgia after all this time, a kind of emotion, I admit that somehow I was looking forward to going back to our sea. It is that, as they say, the house bill does not match the one at the fair ” says Andrei Pop.

Dirty and questionable smells

“From day one we were unpleasantly surprised by what we saw. Dirt on the beaches and in the street, questionable smells, flies and noises. When I got to the beach I was surprised. It was full of pumpkins like inflated with bombs, full of tattoos, with robber faces, and the girls too … Some bastards, you couldn’t see one without tattoos, I think they were all plastic. They drank beer side by side with the men and spit seed husks on the beach, without any shame, and from time to time they fought and danced lasciviously to strengthen their males, ”he adds.

Laura was not happy with our beach either. “On the second or third day they gave us rotten food, we left it there on the table, we couldn’t eat it. When I told them we were going to Consumer Protection, they laughed at us. They didn’t care at all about tourists, nor did it seem like they were thinking of doing something that would make us come back next year. No, they were glad that they caught us now, to tear off our skin if they can, that next year they will catch other suckers, who no longer need us, ”says Laura.

In terms of prices, Mamaia seemed more expensive than the exotic and luxury tourist destinations, where they had previously spent their vacations. “I was talking about those gentlemen inflated with the pump, the prices were exactly the same. Sure, I noticed it was peak season in August, but they were still huge. And it is not that there were huge prices, the problem was in poor condition. Noise, drive until dawn, congestion, lack of social distance in this critical period. We will definitely not return here, ”concluded Andrei Pop.
