Prime Minister Florin Cîțu announced this Tuesday, at a press conference after the government meeting, that Romania receives 14,000 weekly doses of anti-Covid vaccine from the Moderna company, but the administration of the vaccine has not yet begun, although the vaccination campaign encountered problems. due to the reduction in the amount of vaccine administered by Pfizer / BioNTech.

“From Moderna we receive 14,000 a week. We did not use them because they were few, but there will probably be vaccination offices where Moderna vaccine will be used,” said the prime minister.

The coordinator of the vaccination campaign, Dr. Valeriu Gheorghiță, recently stated that in the first quarter Romania will receive 430,000 doses of Moderna, and from February vaccination with this serum could begin.

“In early February it will be distributed to vaccination centers. (…) We have an estimated quantity of about 430,000 doses for the first quarter of the year, ”said Gheorghiță.

Romania currently has a deficit of 117,000 doses of the anti-Covid vaccine, so that, as of January 28, all people scheduled for the first dose, who perform essential activities, are ten days late.
