Romania reaches the threshold of 3,000 coronavirus infections in 24 hours. The death toll has skyrocketed

In the last 24 hours, 2,958 new cases of COVID-19 have been registered, a new record for coronavirus infections since the start of the pandemic. The number of deaths is also increasing. In one day, 82 people died of COVID.

To date, on October 7, in Romania, 142,570 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID – 19) have been confirmed.

111,564 patients were declared cured.

Following nationwide testing, compared to the last report, 2,958 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19) were recorded, cases that had not previously had a positive test.

To date, 5,203 people diagnosed with COVID-19 infection have died.

Between 06.10.2020 (10:00) and 07.10.2020 (10:00) there were 82 deaths (52 men and 30 women), of some patients infected by the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Bacău, Bihor , Botoșani, Brăila, Călărași, Caraș-Severin, Cluj, Constanța, Covasna, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Galați, Giurgiu, Gorj, Harghita, Hunedoara, Ialomița, Iași, Maramureș, Mehedinâu, Mare, Prailor Telecea, Tulcea, Prailorcea Vaslui, Ilfov and Bucharest.

Note: As requestedfrom the Ministry of Health, the situation of deaths related to August and September was updated by DSP Brăila with 17 cases identified.

Of these, 1 death was recorded in the age category of 10 to 19 years, 2 deaths in the category of 40 to 49 years, 8 deaths in the category of 50 to 59 years, 18 deaths were recorded in the age category of 60 to 69 years, 30 deaths in the age group 70 to 79 years and 23 deaths in the category of more than 80 years.

79 of the deaths registered are of some patients who presented comorbidities, and so far no comorbidities of 3 deceased patients have been reported.

In health units, the total number of people hospitalized for COVID-19 is 8,303. Of these, 612 are hospitalized in ATI.

To date, 2,568,071 tests have been processed nationwide. Of these, 27,814 were performed in the last 24 hours, 17,351 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 10,463 upon request.

Likewise, since the last information made by GCS, the results of 35 tests processed before the last 24 hours and sent until October 7 have been reported.

In Romania, 11,965 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are isolated at home and 7,889 people are institutionally isolated. In addition, 24,600 people are in home quarantine and 9 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 1,903 calls were registered to the single emergency number 112 and 2,339 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), opened especially to inform citizens.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law No. 55 of 05/15/2020 on some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, in the last 24 hours, 3,401 penalties for minor offenses, amounting to 537,823 lei.

Likewise, through the competent structures of the Police, 3 crimes were found yesterday to frustrate the fight against diseases, a fact foreseen and sanctioned by art. 352 Penal Code.

We remind the public that the Ministry of the Interior has put into operation, as of 04/07/2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where violations of health protection regulations can be notified.

The calls are answered by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for the verification of the notified issues.

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, it was confirmed that 6,767 Romanian citizens were infected with COVID-19 (coronavirus): 1,917 in Italy, 1,253 in Spain, 124 in France, 2,999 in Germany, 159 in Great Britain, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the US, 120 in Austria, 21 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 93 in Greece, 7 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine, 7 in the United Arab Emirates and one in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Sweden, Republic of the Congo, Hungary and Qatar.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and so far, 126 Romanian citizens abroad, 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the United States, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of the Congo and one in Greece, they have died.

Of the Romanian citizens confirmed with the new coronavirus, 797 were declared cured: 677 in Germany, 90 in Greece, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.
