We will soon have to move to the disaster scenario, because hospitals can no longer cope with the wave of disease.
It is the warning of the medical authorities, sent on the day that Romania records a dismal record: 104 Romanians were captured by Covid, in the last 24 hours. There are also victims among those who fight on the front lines. Two nurses and a firefighter died Monday through Tuesday, killed by Covid-19.
The sirens sounded in mourning in all the Vâlcea fire brigades in memory of Romeo Banu, killed by Covid. He was only 46 years old.
Dan Pascariu, director of ISU Vâlcea: “Despite all the efforts made by UPU doctors, last night, at 8 pm, death was declared.”
Romeo Banu did not suffer from other diseases and played sports. It was confirmed with Sars-Cov-2 on October 13. He preferred to isolate himself at home, during which time the disease worsened. A week ago he was hospitalized for infectious diseases. The news of Romeo’s death struck his colleagues like lightning.
Candles were also lit in the Ineu hospital. Nurse Anamaria Ciurdar lost the fight, after being at the head of those infected with the new Coronavirus. The 47-year-old man worked in an ambulance. He had other illnesses, but they were not life-threatening.
Ion Epure, ATI Physician: “It just came to our attention then. It’s difficult for us because we’re tired. We want to get our lives back. It just can’t be. Ana Maria came out before our eyes asking for air.”
And Slatina Hospital is in mourning. Nurse Cecilia Dina passed away Tuesday morning after battling the disease for days at ATI. He was 48 years old. His colleague, the head nurse, who is also infected, is sounding the alarm.
Maria Neacșu, deputy director: “We think about how unfair life is. It saved a lot of people, I can’t tell you with what dedication. Unfortunately, we lose people. Someone should protect us so we can save lives. Unfortunately, we also fall one by one.”
So far, 33 doctors and nurses have been killed by Covid-19. About 6,000 health workers were infected. Today, we hit a new negative record. In the last 24 hours, 104 people have died. 4,724 people found out they were infected. And there are 824 patients in intensive care. All these figures require new actions on the part of the authorities.
Raed Arafat, Secretary of State: “We are not talking about epidemiology here. Little by little, we enter the logic of disaster medicine. It needs a different management. I have three patients, I have the possibility of giving treatment for a maximum of one, which of the three do I put in bed and I look for beds for the other two. This is the situation we will face in the system. “
This week, the government will issue an emergency ordinance that will allow the employment of doctors and nurses without examination.
Raed Arafat, Secretary of State: “All doctors who have completed the specialized examination in ATI, emergency, epidemiology, infectious diseases, radiology, to be hired immediately without competition, to create a workforce, to send them where necessary, on secondment.”
We break new records every day. We are talking about more and more deaths and hospitals and doctors that can no longer cope. The scenarios for the next period are grim.
Forgo unnecessary meetings and contacts, avoid congestion, be aware of the danger and protect yourself. Our health and even the lives of our loved ones depend on us, on the measures we take.
