In the alert state, there will be restrictions, but the authorities want to gradually begin to relax the measures, and not suddenly.

As of May 15, the obligation to wear a protective mask in closed spaces, on public transport, to maintain the social distance of 1.5 m remains in force. At the same time, Romanians can participate in religious services, but only in the cemetery.

Also starting May 15, stores that have a direct entrance from the street and shopping malls with areas of up to 15,000 square meters, as well as terraces, will reopen.

The state of alert will allow circulation in the town and without the declaration of own responsibility, but not outside the town.

President Klaus Iohannis declared a state of emergency on Romanian territory on March 16, for 30 days. Subsequently, it was extended, on April 14, for another 30 days.

The establishment of a state of emergency in Romania came just days after the World Health Organization declared a coronavirus pandemic.

So far, there have been more than 1,000 deaths in our country due to COVID-19 and more than 16,000 infected people, according to the latest report presented by the Strategic Communication Group.
