Romania is the 25th most complex economy in the world

Researchers from Harvard University have established that Romania has a more complex economy than the indicators show. Basically, Romania is ranked 25th on the top made by Americans. The ranking includes 133 countries, Mediafax reports.

Researchers at Harvard University in the United States have compiled several statistics on the world economy. In terms of product complexity, Romania ranks 25th. Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia rank first at the top, ahead of strong economies like Italy and France.

The study is carried out according to the goods and services with the highest degree of processing exported by each country. The main sectors responsible for Romanian exports are transport, automotive components, automobiles and information and communication technologies, according to the study.

Since 2003, Romania has added 62 new products to its list. And the production volumes for them are large enough to import. For comparison, Austria and Hungary, economies more complex than Romania, and also more developed, have 19 new products each.

“Romania is a country with a more complex economy than its indicators would indicate at first glance, so GDP is expected to grow an average of 3% per year by 2028 (…)”, say Harvard analysts. who conducted the Atlas of Economic Complexity study.

In the ranking of the world’s largest exporters, Romania ranks 40th, with total exports of 107 billion dollars in 2018. And, according to the GDP per capita indicator, Romania ranks 45th in the top of the largest countries. wealthy people in the world after an increase of 5.2% annually in the period 2014-2018.
