Romania has issued a new alert at European level on the sale of non-compliant masks, through the rapid alert system for non-food products, RAPEX.

Among the products that do not meet the requirements identified by the ANPC are counterfeit masks, which are sold in the form of “semi-white face respirators”.

The product does not carry the CE mark and is not certified as protective equipment by a competent body. “Consequently, the product may not meet the health and safety requirements and therefore not be adequately protected unless combined with additional measures. / The product does not comply with the Regulation on Personal Protective Equipment and the relevant European standard. EN 149 “, is indicated in the information transmitted via RAPEX.

The public authorities notified the importer of the measure to withdraw the product from the market.

Another non-conforming product is marketed under the 3M brand, type FFP3, the country of origin being the United Kingdom, which bears the CE mark, but is not certified as protective equipment by the corresponding body. Other non-compliant masks are type N95, as well as three-layer, made in China.

Romania has so far issued 17 alerts for non-compliant masks, in order to warn member countries about their possible presence for sale in the EU.
