As of January 3, 640,429 COVID-19 cases had been confirmed in Romania. 574,897 patients were declared cured. In the last 24 hours, 3,034 people have been infected and 60 have died, while 1,119 are hospitalized in ATI.

After tests conducted at the national level, compared to the last report, 3,034 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19) were registered, cases that had not previously had a positive test.

Aside from newly confirmed cases, after retesting patients who were already positive, 327 people were positively reconfirmed.

To date, 15,979 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

Between 02.01.2021 (10:00) – 03.01.2021 (10:00), 60 deaths were reported (35 men and 25 women), of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Bacău, Bihor, Botoșani, Brăila, Caraș-Severin, Cluj, Constanța, Dolj, Giurgiu, Iași, Maramureș, Sălaj, Satu Mare, Suceava, Teleorman and Timiș.

Of these, 3 deaths were recorded in the age category 30 to 39 years, 2 deaths in the age category 40 to 49 years, 4 deaths in the age category 50 to 59 years, 12 deaths in the age category age 60 to 69 years 22 deaths in the age group 70 to 79 years and 17 deaths in the category over 80 years.

59 of the deaths registered are of some patients who presented comorbidities, and for 1 patient who died so far, no comorbidities have been reported.

1,119 people in ATI

In specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 8,868. Of these, 1,119 are hospitalized in ATI.

To date, 4,827,673 tests have been processed nationwide. Of these, 9,829 were performed in the last 24 hours, 6,220 according to case definition and medical protocol and 3,609 on request.

In Romania, 31,026 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are isolated at home and 8,876 people are institutionally isolated.

Additionally, 45,554 people are in home quarantine and 63 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 2,398 calls to the single emergency number 112 were registered.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law No. 55/2020 regarding some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, on January 2, 3,974 penalties for minor offenses, in the amount of 718,257 lei.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, yesterday a criminal file was drawn up to frustrate the fight against diseases, a fact foreseen and sanctioned by art. 352 Penal Code.

We remind the public that the Ministry of the Interior has put into operation, as of 04/07/2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where infractions to sanitary protection regulations can be notified.

The calls are answered by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for the verification of the notified issues.

More than 17.3 million cases in the EU

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, it was confirmed that 7,063 Romanian citizens were infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (coronavirus): 1,939 in Italy, 1,290 in Spain, 173 in the United Kingdom, 125 in France, 3,085 in Germany, 93 in Greece, 49 in Denmark, 36 in Hungary, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the USA, 7 in Sweden, 131 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 11 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 2 in Bulgaria, 10 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine, 8 in the United Arab Emirates, 12 in Moldova, 3 in Montenegro and one in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Republic of the Congo, Qatar, Vatican, Portugal, Egypt, Pakistan and the Russian Federation. Since the start of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and so far, 130 Romanian citizens abroad, 33 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, died 3 in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the United States, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of Congo and one in Greece.

Of the Romanian citizens confirmed with the new coronavirus infection, 798 were declared cured: 677 in Germany, 90 in Greece, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg, one in Tunisia and one in Argentine.

As of January 2, 2021, 17,348,389 cases had been reported in the EU / EEA, UK, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland and Andorra. Most cases have been reported in France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, and Germany.
