“Through such partnerships, we give a steady state signal, capable of concluding serious partnerships, thereby creating an attractive framework for investors. It has been a constant concern of President Iohannis and the NLP government to support and encourage the areas that the economic dimension of the relationship with strategic partners, such as the United States and Poland, is developed, but also to support the national defense industry, in which we firmly believe ”, said the Minister of Economy, Virgil Popescu.

Under the agreement, Romania would host the first regional Black Hawk equipment and maintenance center.

The Black Hawk, the most widely used multifunction and multi-mission helicopter in the world, would be equipped by ROMAERO for both military missions and search and rescue operations, emergency medical services, command and control or official transport. The Black Hawk helicopters will be delivered for completion by ROMAERO from the PZL Mielec factory, Poland, Lockheed Martin’s largest production capacity outside the US.

PZL Mielec will offer the Romanian Ministry of the Interior an initial tranche of 12 Black Hawk multifunction helicopters, as part of the national program for the provision of medium / heavy helicopters, destined for maritime and land missions. The 12 aircraft will be manufactured in Poland, where PZL has already produced helicopters for 17 international customers since 2010.

Black Hawk helicopters currently operate in more than 30 states. In Austria, Poland, Slovakia and Sweden, they play important roles internally or in NATO operations, including humanitarian aid, search and rescue, troop transport and emergency response.

Headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, Lockheed Martin is an international aerospace and security company with approximately 100,000 employees worldwide, specializing in research, design, development, production, integration and maintenance of advanced technology systems, products and services. .

ROMAERO is the largest state-owned company in the Romanian aerospace and defense industry. The company operates in two economic fields: maintenance and repair services for civil and military transport aircraft and, respectively, industrial production of aerostructures and their components. With over a century of industry experience, more than 900 highly skilled employees, and significant development potential, ROMAERO has the ability to successfully participate in major aerospace and defense programs nationally and globally.
