Initially, in November 2016, a three-judge panel from HCCJ rendered a first ruling in this case. Former Prahova County Council Chairman Mircea Cosma was sentenced to eight years in prison, while his son, Vlad Cosma, received five years in prison. On January 20, 2020, the Prahova Court returned the case to the supreme court, arguing that there is a negative conflict of jurisdiction between this court and the supreme court. Later, in May, the HCCJ finally ruled that there was no negative conflict of jurisdiction and the case was returned to the Prahova Court.
