The line was drawn and the winner announced at the Sector 1 City Hall in Bucharest, where the elections were questioned.
After 48 hours of chaos, in the Electoral Table of the sector the minutes were written according to which Clotilde Armând had 1005 votes more than Dan Tudorache.
According to the resultsvot.ro website, which presents in real time the results of the local elections of September 27, 2020, the candidate Clotilde Armand (USR_PLUS) received 36,455 votes (40.95%), while the incumbent mayor, representative PSD’s Dan Tudorache received 35,451 votes (39.82%).
But the votes could be counted again, after the PSD requested it. The decision will be made by the Central Electoral Office.
It all started after the representative of the right claimed that her opponents had stolen her votes. The Social Democrats say they have nothing to do.
The police opened a criminal case.
PSD candidate, captured with hundreds of minutes
A PSD candidate for the Sector 1 Local Council was captured on Monday night by USR – Plus members with their arms full of documents. It happened in front of the City Hall building, where the sector’s Electoral Board is located.
The man returned to the building and was followed to the second floor, where there was an administrative headquarters in the public domain. One floor below is the Electoral Office.
USR-Plus representatives called 112.
Clotilde Armand: It’s a lot of minutes after yesterday’s elections
Clotilde Armând, the one who leads the small difference, arrived immediately, according to the results so far.
Clotilde Armand: I saw there, there are a lot of minutes from yesterday’s elections, original, sealed, signed, which were taken from the District Electoral Office and brought here to the mayor’s office. “
The explanation from PSD counter-candidate Dan Tudorache was that: “He is a simple messenger who collects the minutes for the Social Democratic Party. He went to that place because someone was collecting them and accompanied them to the package.”
Mihai Dragan, legal representative of PSD Sector 1: “Minutes are drawn up at each voting table, with what was counted. It is made in a copy that goes to the BEC and a copy for each representative. I preferred that a representative collect them and transport them to the party headquarters for the parallel count. “
Sector 1 Police Explanations
The capital city police have opened a criminal case.
In the first phase, the police heard no less than 8 people, witnesses, but also members of various political parties. What we know so far is that a man who was a candidate on the PSD local councilors’ lists would have left the headquarters of the Electoral Table of Sector 1, with no less than 473 minutes ”.
Ionuț Dana, Sector 1 Police Chief: “We are conducting investigations through the 4th Police Station under the coordination of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the District 1 Court of First Instance for the crime provided for in article 391 of falsification of documents and electoral records.
Despite the police intervention, there were riots in front of the Electoral Office building in Sector 1. Throughout the night, the members of USR PLUS closely monitored the members of the commission in which the minutes were again analyzed.
Clotilde Armând, USR-PLUS candidate for mayor of Sector 1 of the Capital: “The processing of the minutes takes abnormally … it takes too long. // There have been several strange incidents and we are worried. We want to keep our votes.”
And so they discovered more problems.
Claudiu Năsiu, Vice President of USR: “There were 11 polling stations where the tablets did not work and the votes and records had to be brought only physically, written here. Our colleagues informed us that they are not well sealed, some bags were brought that were not closed. “
In addition, there were examples of minutes with 164 votes in favor of the party, but the data entered into the system yielded 0 votes. Throughout the day, the situation became even more confusing.
More than 24 hours after the start of the scandal, the headquarters of the electoral office in sector 1 became a fortress. Here there are policemen, gendarmes, doctors and ambulances. Because on the one hand, PSD supporters came to the scene and said that they want to defend their vote, and on the other hand, protesters and members of USR-PLUS who want to make sure that the electoral process runs correctly.
The gendarmes pulled two people out of the crowd. We are talking about two men who were verbally aggressive. They were taken to the gendarmerie van, where they were searched. But since they did not calm down, the gendarmes took them to the 4th police station.
Dan Barna: “Clotilde is mayor, that’s for sure”
Clotillde Armand did not move from the members of the commission. The leader of her party, Dan Barna, also visited her.
Dan Barna: “Clotilde is the mayor, that’s for sure. The minutes are what everyone confirms.”
The electoral process has not yet been completed in Sector 1.
On the other hand, the Central Electoral Office is expected to issue a verdict following the PSD’s request for a vote count.
