Clashes between protesters and law enforcement agencies took place on Friday night in the center of the Italian city of Florence, during a protest against anti-epidemic restrictions, according to La Repubblica and Corriere della Sera.

Hundreds of protesters gathered in the center of Florence on Friday at 9:00 p.m. (10:00 p.m. Romanian time) for an unauthorized demonstration.

“There are neo-fascist movements behind the rally,” accused the mayor of Florence, Dario Nardella.

We are not extremists, we are not fascists, we are starving workers! Shame!”, Chanted the protesters, who denounced the anti-epidemic restrictions imposed by the Government of Giuseppe Conte and the regional authorities.

According to the Italian authorities, the demonstration is attended by about 600 people, mainly far-right activists, restaurant owners, supporters of soccer teams and employees unemployed due to restrictions imposed in the context of the pandemic. “We want to work!” Shouted some protesters.

Law enforcement intervened to disperse the protesters, but some protesters attacked with bottles and stones, leading to violent clashes.
