Rafila Says Romania May Surpass 25,000 New COVID-19 Cases Per Day By December

Dr. Alexandru Rafila, PSD candidate in the parliamentary elections, declared this Thursday that it is possible that in Romania, until December, there will be more than 25,000 daily cases of people infected by the new coronavirus, reports Agerpres.

Asked at a press conference at PSD headquarters if it is possible to exceed 25,000 new daily cases of COVID-19 for December, Rafila replied: “Yes, it is a possible option. If today we have almost 10,000 cases, you realize that we had a jump from week to week and I mean the average number of cases, not the name of a day, initially 500 cases, then 1,000, now we have a jump of almost 2,000 cases from week to week and then obviously if we attend at intervals of 7 days, 10 days, we have a big jump. This situation can be reached “.

He added that the “biggest” problem is not the number of cases, but is related to patients who have medium forms and who need to be hospitalized and those who have severe forms and must be taken to intensive care.

“If these two elements are not resolved – and the health system is not an elastic that stretches infinitely – then these patients with medium forms cannot be hospitalized and will end up in severe forms, those with severe forms will end up becoming critical patients and mortality will increase enormously. Now we have a maximum of 146 deaths in one day. We are already at the same level in the European Union, although the cumulative incidence of the last two weeks places us somewhere in the 12th place, as mortality we are in place 3 -4. This shows us that when I, like several cases, reach one of the top positions in the EU, mortality will explode, it will double, it will triple, “explained Rafila.
