An internal document from the authorities that coordinates the management of the pandemic, more precisely an order from the action commander, Secretary of State Raed Arafat, requests the county structures to send the situation to all doctors and nurses who invoke medical reasons or otherwise so as not to get involved in fighting the pandemic.
However, these are not nominal lists, but the number of these medical personnel.
Thus, the regional centers for the coordination and management of the intervention are obliged to request “with the utmost urgency” to the hospitals involved in the fight for COVID a situation with “medical personnel (doctors, nurses – numeric) who suffer from medical conditions that do not allow their activity in the treatment of patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 “, as well as a situation with” medical personnel (doctors, nurses – numeric) that invoked other forms / methods of avoidance or evasion of medical activities in the COVID-19 area (prolonged leave, including medical or unpaid) ”.
The authorities want to know what medical personnel they can count on at this time, since all expect the number of cases to increase in the next period, and the main problem in hospitals is not necessarily the lack of equipment or beds, but the lack of personal.
On the other hand, there is a fear in many hospitals, among medical personnel, but not as at the beginning, related to the lack of protective equipment, but the fear that they do not have enough places for patients in hospitals.
Many hospitals say they cannot install the intensive care beds they have due to lack of staff, and the Department of Emergency Situations is the one that takes care of the secondment of medical personnel during the state of alert.
Since the start of the coronavirus epidemic in Romania and until now, almost 6,000 members of the medical staff have been infected.
