PSD economic criminals target Romania for insolvency

Prime Minister Ludovic Orban criticized Parliament’s vote to amend the budget rectification made by the Government, supplementing pension spending, and described the PSD as “the number one public enemy of Romania and the Romanian economy” and “economic criminals” who affect the country’s financing capacity.

“Once again, PSD has shown that it is the enemy of Romania. PSD’s irresponsibility runs the risk of leading Romania into an economic crisis that we have just overcome. Vote, in the conditions of an economic contraction that led to the lack of revenue, increases of 6.7% of GDP, without the existence of additional revenue, shows that the PSD is, in fact, the public enemy number 1 of Romania and the Romanian economy.

The government I lead increased the pension point by 14%, in absolute terms 177 lei, the largest increase in the pension point in the history of increasing the pension point. That, in conditions of economic crisis.

For comparison, there is no other European country that has increased pensions during this period than Germany.

Regarding bonuses, PNL since 2004 is the only party that increased bonuses, in 2007, 2008, 2015, 2019. In 2015 and 2019 it managed to increase bonuses, being in opposition. The PSD majority vote for a law doubling appropriations in the same year that the PNL had doubled appropriations in the budget law, was a populist act, without foundation and based on real state revenue.

Any increase in spending caused by the PSD economic criminals only drives Romania into insolvency.

The risks are: the downgrade of Romania by the rating agencies will increase the cost of financing and not only public financing, but also all Romanian companies and all individuals. The loans will be more expensive and difficult to access, ”Orban said.

He said the government would attack the law in the CCR.

“We will not accept this amendment in any way, without foundation,” added the liberal leader.

At the same time, Ludovic Orban commented on the “unfortunate” decision of the UDMR to vote for the rectification in this way.

“It is unfortunate that after they joined us on the Budget, Finance Committee and did not participate in this decision, they changed their position and had a contribution to this PSD decision.

We are interested in winning the elections with the highest possible score, so that very large alliances are not needed to complicate the Romanian government, ”Orban said.
