Dozens of people participated, on Tuesday, in a spontaneous protest, in front of the Constanza Court, the protesters calling for the suspension of the CJSU’s decision regarding quarantine and allowing the pilgrimage to the Cave of San Andrés. The city of Constanța is under quarantine and the police have imposed several fines.
His Eminence Theodosius went to ask the court to suspend the decision of the CJSU Constanţa and, implicitly, to allow the traditional pilgrimage to the Cave of Saint Andrew to be carried out on November 30. In addition, the court postponed until Wednesday the ruling of the lawsuit filed by the Archdiocese of Tomis on the prohibition of pilgrimages.
Police from Section 3 and IJJ Constanza gendarmes identified the protesters, who did not respect the measures established by the Constanza municipality quarantine and applied sanctions.
“They could not justify their presence in the area and they did not have a valid reason, provided by law, to leave home,” police say about the protesters, according to Mediafax.
They applied 24 fines, for a total amount of 17,300 lei, for non-compliance with the traffic restrictions imposed by the current epidemiological context, as well as for non-compliance with the rules of social coexistence.
Likewise, the Section 3 police officers sanctioned a woman and a man, who did not wear a protective mask, with the total amount of the fines being 4,000 lei.
The Archbishop of Tomis, His Eminence Theodosius, announced in the first half of November that he would appeal to the court if, due to pandemic restrictions, he could not reach the Apostle’s Cave, near Ion Corvin, on St. Andrew’s Day. Constanta County.
His Eminence Theodosius says that November 30 is the spiritual day of all Romanians and we must defend our “rights as worshipers” in court.
“I am not satisfied with some restrictions that do not make sense and that restrict our rights as faithful.”said the archbishop.
