In the last 24 hours, there were 2,719 new cases of infection with the new coronavirus, out of 26,744 tests. In addition, 94 deaths were reported, the death toll was 17,722. The number of patients admitted to ATI is 1,016, announces the Strategic Communication Group.

To date, on January 23, in Romania, 709,194 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID – 19) have been confirmed. 650,189 patients were declared cured. Following tests conducted at the national level, compared to the last report, 2,719 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19) were registered, cases that had not previously had a positive test. Unlike recently confirmed cases, after retesting patients who were already positive, 803 people were positively reconfirmed.

Most of the new cases have been registered in Bucharest – 505, Timiş – 169, Cluj – 166, Suceava – 146, Ilfov – 141, Maramureş – 125, Galaţi – 121.

As of Saturday, 17,722 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection had died.

Between 22.01.2021 (10:00) – 23.01.2021 (10:00) 94 deaths (53 men and 41 women) were reported, of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Argeş, Bacău, Bihor, Botoşani, Bistriţa-Năsăud, Brăila, Braşov, Cluj, Constanţa, Covasna, Dâmboviţa, Galaţi, Ialomiţa, Iaşi, Maramureş, Mureş, Olt, Prahova, Sălaj, Satu Mare, Suceava, Ilfoluicharest.

Of these, there was one death in the age category 30 to 39 years, 3 deaths in the age category 40 to 49 years, 9 deaths in the age category 50 to 59 years, 19 deaths in the age category of age 60 to 69 years, 33 deaths in the age group 70 to 79 years and 29 deaths in the category of over 80 years.

92 of the deaths registered were of some patients who presented comorbidities, one deceased patient did not present comorbidities and for a deceased patient, no comorbidities have been reported so far.

In specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 7,736. Of these, 1,016 are hospitalized in ATI.

To date, 5,289,874 RT-PCR tests and 74,341 rapid antigenic tests have been processed nationwide. In the last 24 hours, 21,410 RT-PCR tests were performed (12,385 based on case definition and medical protocol and 9,052 upon request) and 5,334 rapid antigen tests.

In Romania, 47,762 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are isolated in their homes and 10,841 people are in institutionalized isolation. Additionally, 73,210 people are in home quarantine and 145 people are in institutionalized quarantine.
