Police Eugen Stan was definitively sentenced by the Bucharest Court of Appeal to 20 years in prison, accused of committing 18 crimes of sexual assault, among the underage victims.

Initially, he had received a 19-year prison sentence in July in the 6th District Court, a sentence increased by one year by the Bucharest Court of Appeal.

According to the General Prosecutor’s Office, between November 2, 2009 and January 5, 2018, Eugen Stan sexually assaulted 18 people, between the ages of 5 and 38, in different parts of Bucharest.

Prosecutors claim that Eugen Stan was following the victims on their way to the apartment blocks where they lived, committing the crimes under duress on the stairs of the buildings or in their elevator.

On January 8, 2018, the prosecutors of the Public Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Bucharest Court ordered the initiation of a criminal proceeding against Eugen Stan, with the aim, first of all, of committing the crime of sexual assault on two minors, aged 5 and 9 years, respectively, on January 8, 2018. respectively, the accused is an employee of the Ministry of the Interior.

By ordinance of January 9, 2018 of the General Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Superior Court of Cassation and Justice, it was ordered that the case be handled by the Criminal and Forensic Investigation Section of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the ICCJ.

During the criminal investigation, several files were taken from the Prosecutor’s Offices attached to the Bucharest District Courts, also having as an object the commission of some crimes of sexual assault by Eugen Stan, which were brought together in a new case.
