Poland’s President Andrzej Duda is infected with coronavirus

The President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, is infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. According to the spokesman for the presidential administration, Błażej Spychalski, the Polish president is feeling well and is in constant contact with doctors.

On Friday, Duda visited the Warsaw National Stadium, which was transformed into a temporary COVID hospital.

“As recommended yesterday, President Andrzej Duda took a coronavirus test and the result was positive. The head of state is feeling well, we are in constant contact with the doctors,” Spychalski wrote on Twitter.

The president’s spokesman also isolated himself.

All of Poland enters the “red zone”

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced on Friday that the entire country would enter the “red zone” starting Saturday, with a partial closure of primary schools and restaurants, following a record increase in COVID-19 cases.

In an online press conference, Prime Minister Morawiecki called on “all those who can work remotely to do so” starting next week.

He urged people over 70 to stay home and announced the creation of a “Senior Support Corps” of volunteers to help seniors with supplies.

Primary schools will be partially closed, except for the first three years, for the rest of the pupils and students, the activity will take place online.

Swimming pools and sports clubs will also be closed, while restaurants, cafes and bars will be able to sell products for domestic consumption only.

Any gathering will be limited to a maximum of five people, weddings will be suspended and the number of people will be restricted in stores, public transportation and churches.
