Poland will be in national quarantine from December 28 to January 17, Polish Health Minister Adam Niedzielski announced on Thursday. In addition to the measures already in place – schools, restaurants, cinemas without access – all hotels, shopping centers and ski slopes will be closed, writes Reuters, according to Agerpres.

The Health Minister warned of a possible third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in the new year and urged Poles to be cautious.

“I urge all Poles to be responsible for themselves and their loved ones. But I know that just calls will not be helpful,” said the Polish official.

In addition, people entering the country during this period using public transport will have to remain in quarantine for ten days.

Total lockdown after Christmas

Although the new restrictions will not apply at Christmas, a traffic ban will be introduced for the New Year between 19:00 (December 31) and 06:00 (January 1) to prevent the spread of the virus.

The new anti-epidemic restrictions are in addition to those in force: restaurants, cafes, cinemas and theaters are closed, education is online, meetings are limited to 5 people, minors under 16 can leave home accompanied only by adults, while people over 70 are advised not to go out at all.
