Today, the Liberals began negotiations with the USR and UDMR for the formation of a parliamentary majority, in order to support the future government.

According to unofficial sources, Ludovic Orban, Dan Barna, Dragoș Tudorache and Kelemen Hunor arrived at the Cotroceni Palace, this morning, around 10:00 am, to discuss with President Klaus Iohannis.

On Wednesday, PNL president Ludovic Orban announced that talks will be held with USR PLUS, UDMR and the group of national minorities in the Chamber of Deputies.

Negotiations on the future government between right-wing political forces are expected to be complicated. Liberals want to maintain 10-11 ministries and offer USR-PLUS 5 or 6 portfolios.

The current Minister of Finance, Florin Cîțu, was appointed by the PNL to form the Government, after a discussion with the Head of State and a consultation within the party. Once the name of the prime minister has been agreed, the structure of the government must be agreed in the future coalition.

The new Cabinet would have between 16 and 18 portfolios, of which 10 or 11 would remain in PNL, 5 or 6 would be led by USR-PLUS and another two by UDMR.
