PHOTO New indications on the tourist equipment of thousands of euros found torn in the Capitan mountains: “It is a 200-meter section where nobody would enter”

The recovered photographs were dated in 2011, therefore, the possibility that the investigation takes into account a longer period regarding the mysterious abandonment is considered.

Polish lost in the area in 2015

Several assumptions, including the one related to the ambulation of a Polish man, were verified in the area in 2015. He had started his trip to Israel. “He left Poland to go to Jerusalem,” he said. I wanted to do the entire route on foot. He arrived in Sibiu and from here he wanted to cross the Carpathians to reach Oltenia, but he was lost here for seven days. He came to the hospital in Brezoi with bruises and other injuries. We look at the photos, unfortunately it doesn’t look much like any of the ones that now appear in the photos of the abandoned Canon. “recalled the head of the Salvamont Valcea Service, Mircea Lera.

“Many times, we meet more foreigners than Romanians on the road”

He admits that this is not the first time that tourists have been lost in the mountains. The Romanian Carpathians are visited in the summer season by more foreigners than by Romanians: “They are lost here. In summer, we have both in Făgăraş, as in Cozia and the area of the Capitan mountains, I am not exaggerating if I say that more than 50 Poles, Germans, etc., every weekend. Many times, we find more foreigners on the route that Romanians “.

“A response is expected from Germany”

This is one of the reasons why it is suspected that the owner of the abandoned property in the mountains is a foreign national. In addition, judging by the origin of the mountain equipment and other abandoned goods, it seems that it could be a German, so contact the German police, but also with other institutions: “A response is now expected from Germany … Yesterday I called the German Embassy to tell me if in 2012 a German citizen lost by Romania declared himself. I was told that he was unable to provide me with such information and that a written request from the Police. I thought it was an easier process, which can be verified on the spot in a database … I also called the Sibiu Consulate and they informed me that they would not enter any of these … Please … ” Mircea Lera also confessed to us.

Abandoning thousands of euros in the mountains, stranger

It remains a mystery why someone would abandon thousands of euros on the mountain: “It is strange, given that the equipment is quite expensive. A backpack costs at least 200 euros, a sleeping bag about 300 euros, the store also costs about 3 – 400 euros. It had energy food, tools, in addition to a camera. The shirt hanging from the branch dried it … He left everything there and left … “.

Tourists have strayed a lot from the mountain trail

A new clue in this investigation is related to where the abandoned things were found. It shows that the tourists appearing in the photos recovered from the camera have strayed far from the tourist route.

“The route, marked with a red dot, starts from the Gorges of Lotrişorului and descends to the edge of the vultures in Brezoi. But on the edge, not on the shore. The team was found on the valley walls. So they left the route and they went down about 40 minutes, maybe even an hour, depending on where they left the route. Then the owner stopped and left his backpack where we found it now. “

Salvamont Vâlcea chief Mircea Lera also has an explanation related to the fact that tourists have strayed from the route: “A month and a half ago, we did not see the mark in the Colts Vultresei. Meanwhile, we have done the route again, but there are still places where we can no longer see … I do not know why.”

Cascade Canyon, accessible only to those equipped and trained

Also, the area they arrived in is extremely dangerous: the Vultureasa waterfall canyon is dangerous to cross, with many very high thresholds, where you cannot predict how fast the weather will change on the mountain.

“That valley closes, there are steep walls and waterfalls, thresholds. In fact, there are many valleys and many thresholds that lead to Vultureasa, each with two three very high waterfalls and you cannot go back much, you are tired … It is not a route for everyone, it is the waterfalls of 15 – 20 meters, I would not recommend it as a route. You cannot go down. Just do something on Via Ferrata (mountain trail with suspended or crossed bridges, where you can climb the rocks hundreds of meters high – n.r.), but not worth it. When you are at the bottom of the valley, you don’t even see if the Vultureasa is up. The sky is practically on top of you “, explains the head of Salvatore Montalceni.

Searches continue

On Friday, April 10, Vâlceni’s rescue workers returned to the area to look for new clues in this strange case. They will return on Saturday, April 11: “Tomorrow, we are equipped with pitches, to climb in an area with several waterfalls. And we will also check there, there is a portion of about 200 meters where nobody would enter”, the head of Salvamont Vâlcea, Mircea Lera, also told us.

We recall that on the Facebook page of those from Salvamont Romania, photos recovered from the abandoned camera were published, to request the help of Romanians in identifying those that appear in the images, which can be found in the Photo Gallery attached to this material.

It remains a mystery as things were abandoned in the Vultureasa Canyon and the reason why they were abandoned, but how they have not been found so far.
