The home of former Italian soccer star Paolo Rossi, who died this week, was raided during Saturday’s funeral, according to Italian media cited by the BBC.
The footballer’s funeral took place in the northeastern city of Vicenza.
Italian news agency Ansa reported that Rossi’s wife, Federica Cappelletti, returned from the ceremony to their home in Tuscany and discovered that a robbery had occurred.
A watch belonging to Rossi and sums of money are among the items reported stolen.
The police have launched an investigation into the case.
Rossi, who died Thursday at the age of 64, and his family lived on a farm in Poggio Cennina, southeast of Florence.
Thousands of people gathered in Vicenza, Italy, on Saturday to say goodbye to Paolo Rossi. The coffin was carried by his former teammates with whom he won the World Championship in 1982.
Paolo Rossi had returned to football after two years of exclusion and registers six times at the 1982 World Championships, three of which goals in the match against Brazil, he won dramatically 3-2, in competition to the third world title of Italy.
Rossi is considered one of the best strikers in Italian football.
