The representatives of the municipality in the General Meetings of shareholders of municipal companies will have “clear” and “limited” mandates, with the aim of abolishing them, because they are “inefficient”, said this Wednesday the mayor general of the capital, Nicusor Dan, according to Agerpres.
“On Monday, we are taking the first step towards the abolition of Bucharest’s expensive or even bankrupt municipal companies. In addition to completing the Bucharest General Council with the new General Councilors and electing the Deputy Mayors of the Capital, we included in the Agenda of the CGMB meeting on December 21 draft decisions to appoint new representatives of the municipality in the General Shareholders’ Meetings (GMS) of municipal companies. These new representatives will have clear and limited mandates, with the aim of dismantling these inefficient companies. The people of Bucharest will no longer pay for waste and incompetence, and the City Council of the capital will contract the services they need from the free market, in a transparent way, through properly negotiated contracts, “wrote the Mayor General on Facebook.
On the agenda of Monday’s CGMB meeting there are 28 draft decisions on the appointment of Bucharest representatives at the general shareholders’ meetings of 24 municipal companies, Societatea de Transport Bucureşti STB SA, Societa Service Ciclop SA, SC REBU SA and SC Apa Nova Bucureşti SA.
The meeting will also discuss a project to establish a special monitoring commission for municipal companies. According to the project, the commission will be made up of nine municipal councilors and will function for a period of two years. It will present reports to the CGMB every six months with concrete proposals to improve the activity.
