The mayor general of the capital, Nicușor Dan, gave in to the local police officers guarding his office. Every day, 5 local policemen were assigned to the guard station in front of his office. In addition, the mayor ordered that the personnel who guarded the Capital City Council be reduced from 27 to 10 people. As a result of this decision, 20 local policemen will participate in field actions, in joint patrols with the personnel of the Environmental Guard, in order to detect and punish the violation of the legislation in this field.

“It is not appropriate that a City Council, where citizens must have access to solve current problems, is guarded as a city. I promised that I would use the staff of the institutions subordinate to the City Council for activities that are really useful for the people of Bucharest. From now on, 20 local police officers will be on the ground, along with the staff of the Environmental Guard. I am convinced that they will do an excellent job and will be able to fulfill their mission of ensuring a better life for their citizens. Personally, I do not need security at the door, and the City Council should not be a fortress, but an open institution, with transparent activity, “said Nicușor Dan after having a working meeting with the director general of the Local Police on Tuesday. Bucharest, in order to streamline the activity of this institution subordinate to the General City Council.
