Barcelona and City have reached an agreement on the transfer of García in exchange for 18 million euros. Thus, the Catalan defender will join the team led by Ronald Koeman and will compete on the pitch with Piqué, Lenglet and Araujo, says Sport.es, quoting El Chiringuito. Koeman’s team also includes Samuel Umtiti, but it is not part of the Dutch manager’s plans and will be sold.
The official transfer announcement will be postponed until City find a replacement for the central defender brought in by Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.
Eric García, Barcelona’s main goal for the defensive department
The 19-year-old defender was “educated” at Barcelona’s famous academy, La Masia, but left in 2017 for Manchester City youth. In 2019, Pep Guardiola promoted him to the big team, and in his first season he caught 13 matches in the Premier League. Barcelona has received 1.7 million euros for the transfer of García to Manchester City.
Eric García, priced at 16 million euros by the specialized website Transfermarkt, made his debut with the Spanish team in the League of Nations match, won by the Iberians, score 4-0.
