The Road Company has already sent all the documentation to the National Public Procurement Agency and hopes to receive the go-ahead as soon as possible to launch the design and execution competition. The Drumuri director admits that he would like Romanian companies to participate in the auction, estimated at one billion euros, but first of all he wants serious builders, with experience in tunnel construction and with enough people and equipment. Then the auction will be a prequalified one.

Conditions for road trips. How long would it take to build the 30 km?

To move to the second stage, road workers must meet several conditions:

“To have experience in the execution of a 500-meter tunnel according to European procedures, because we must comply with European regulations in this area of ​​the tunnel,” says Mariana Ioniță.

CNAIR also requires that road users have a turnover of at least 700 million lei.

The Chiefs of Roads estimate that the design of the approximately 30 kilometers between Boița and Cornetu will take a maximum of 2 years, and the actual works will have a maximum duration of 5 years and 4 months.

There is no good engineering that can be done quickly and cheaply. It is a myth. It doesn’t exist in China either, it doesn’t exist anywhere. Good engineering is expensive and time consuming. We need to get used to this thinking and focus on quality. We are not building the road to solve the problem we have in 2020, but we are building the road so that it exists for 50 years and for 50 years so that it will be good and useful for us and our descendants ”, Mihai Crăciun emphasizes.
