The Minister of Health announces new rules regarding those who contract COVID-19. Therefore, asymptomatic Romanians, who are not hospitalized, will be declared cured by family doctors.

Also, they don’t have to repeat the test after 14 days. However, they are obliged to keep their distance from their colleagues for 10 days, if they return to work, and to wear a mask. On the other hand, today 1,380 new cases and 47 deaths were registered.

The route of a symptomatic patient with Covid-19

The new order of the Ministry of Health establishes the route of a patient who presents symptoms of respiratory infection and therefore is suspected of COVID 19.

You must stay home, call 112 and your GP. He then waits in the ambulance home to be picked up and transported to a medical facility where he will be examined. There you will be tested and if your symptoms are severe you will be hospitalized.

If the patient’s condition is good, he can go home, where he will receive the test result from the Directorate of Public Health.

If the test is negative, but there are COVID symptoms, and this is found on a CT scan or X-ray image, the patient will be treated as a COVID patient and the test will be repeated every 48 hours.

If the test is positive and the patient is at home, the Public Health Directorate will direct him, through the ambulance service, to a health unit.

Here, after assessing the state of health, which will be done in a maximum of 48 hours, the doctor decides if the patient who does not present symptoms remains isolated in the hospital or at home.

Romanians with moderate and severe forms of the disease will be hospitalized.

Those with moderate and severe forms of the disease will be hospitalized in medical units that have intensive care, and the period of hospitalization is determined by the doctor.

For the first time, the Ministry of Health has decided that family doctors can determine the cure for COVID 19 for those who do not have symptoms and stay at home.

For 14 days, the family doctors will check the health status of the positive people in isolation at home by phone and, if things go well, they will issue a medical letter to the DSP declaring the cure. All information will be entered on the official platform, and these people will appear in the statistics of the cured people.

GP: “Anyway, we kept in contact by phone with Covid infected patients on a daily basis. We do an extra role for DSP because that’s the way it is with us, we put an extra role somewhere.”

Be careful though, these people can go to work after 14 days, but in the next 10 days they need to stay away from colleagues and wear a mask.

Hygiene rules to follow at home

The ministry document specifies in detail the hygiene rules for people who are in quarantine or in isolation.

They should disinfect their bathrooms and toilets at least once a day with substances that contain chlorine. Wash clothes, bedding, and bath towels between 60-90 degrees. Also wash your hands properly and then wipe with a paper towel or towel to wash immediately.

The new order also clarifies medical-surgical emergencies.

Specifically, patients arriving at a non-covid emergency department or hospital who also receive COVID during hospitalization, will have their primary surgical emergency resolved and only after their condition is stable will they be transferred to – a medical unit in which people with COVID 19 infection are cared for.

When patients are already in a COVID hospital and their surgical emergencies cannot be resolved there, they will be sent to a support unit, where they will be isolated and treated.

The order of the Ministry of Health has already been published in the Official Gazette and entered into force.
