The Minister of Health, Nelu Tătaru, declared this Tuesday, in Alba Iulia, asked by journalists if after the local elections a new “confinement” could be instituted (new restrictions No. Red), which only depends on each one of us whether it will be or this measure does not apply.

“We have any scenario under evaluation. But from my point of view, we must first follow the rules and precautions. Let’s think about what we can do to avoid an increase in the number of cases, let’s see what we can do to maintain a plateau after a hard month. and a drop, I think it depends on us if we have a confinement or not, but from my point of view and the Ministry of Health, while we are attentive, we follow some rules we have concrete actions in the health units … “, said the Minister of Health.

Nelu Tătaru added that this pandemic does not stop in hospitals, but before hospitalizations are reached and that respecting the prevention rules, there will be low community transmission.

Asked by journalists if he expects an increase in the number of COVID-19 infection cases after the local elections, the minister said that “There was an increase in new cases when relaxation measures were applied”, be it the reopening of restaurants, the return of the holidays, the congestion of public transport, the reopening of theaters, cinemas, the beginning of the school year, a month of electoral campaign and, now, these local elections.

He appreciated that the observance of the application rules to carry out each activity separately “should give a little raise” of the number of cases from one day to the next and stay in “that plateau, about 1,500 cases. “

“To the extent that we do not follow these precautions, then it can reach 2,000 cases. We monitor the evolution of the number of new cases every day, since we monitor the presence in emergency units, as well as the presence in intensive care of cases serious or critical, since we also monitor the number of deaths. They are those that show us the seriousness, but also the transmission in the community, going a bit with the analysis of difficult cases “, Tataru also said.

The Minister concluded that “if that plateau is maintained”, by the second half of October there could be a decrease in the number of new cases from one day to the next.
