The Minister of Health, Nelu Tătaru, declared that he will hold talks with the Iaşi authorities, with the Metropolitan Church of Moldova, so that the demonstrations related to the feast of Saint Parascheva develop differently from other years, mentioning that some criteria and circuits. to be able to take place at a lower level than before, according to News.ro.

Nelu Tătaru affirmed on Saturday, on Digi 24, that it is a different year due to the pandemic and that everyone must understand that it can no longer be the same holidays as in previous years.
“Some Iasi holidays will follow, Santa Parascheva holidays will follow, I am evaluating some medical units, we will also have conversations with the Metropolitanate, even with local decision makers.” (…) We have given some parameters, some criteria, some circuits for which it can be done at a lower level. We cannot live the same vacations as in previous years or perhaps in future years, it is a different year and we must all understand it starting from the civil population, authorities or clergy. We are at a time when we have to manage a progressive increase in a number of cases, ”explained Nelu Tătaru.
He also stated that there are known criteria that must be maintained, including the use of a mask, avoiding crowded places and that the measures that will be taken must be applied to all activities that will take place in Iasi in the next period.
“They are the same criteria that must be maintained and we should not look for something sophisticated, wear a mask, spacer, disinfectant, avoiding too crowded places. (…) Not only the pilgrimage, all the activities of this period considering that Iasi is a university center, we have a large urban agglomeration, we have students and we have these Iasi vacations that extend for several days ”, said Nelu Tătaru. .
The Metropolitan Church of Moldova and Bukovina announced 10 days ago that the religious pilgrimage to Iasi will take place again this year, in October. Special measures will be taken to avoid congestion around the Cathedral.
According to a statement from MMB, the period in which the coffin will remain placed in the canopy of the Metropolitan’s courtyard will be extended to one week and special colors will be created for pilgrims.
“To avoid a concentration of the faithful for a few days, the coffin with the relics of the Pious will be removed from the Metropolitan Cathedral and placed in the specially arranged canopy from October 8 and will remain there for a week, until the 15 of October: There will be an access corridor to the sacred relics to guarantee physical distance.After passing the canopy that will house the coffin with the holy relics, also through a separate corridor, the pilgrims will be guided to the exit of the Metropolitan Complex area. The masks offered by the volunteers at the entrance of the access corridor and during the queue will be made available to the pilgrims ”, is shown in the statement of the representatives of the Metropolitan Church of Moldavia and Bucovina.
There will also be automatic dispensers with hand sanitizer along the pilgrims’ route, and before approaching the canopy area, believers will step over sanitizing mats.
At the same time, each believer will receive a package packaged and offered in strict hygiene conditions that will contain an icon, a Saint Parascheva akathist, and a bottle of aghiasma. The entrance and exit of the Metropolitan Cathedral will be made in different colors and will be created in such a way that the rule of physical distance can be observed.
The Holy Mass will take place on October 14 and will be officiated at a podium located on the Boulevard of Esteban el Grande y Santo, next to the altar of the Metropolitan Cathedral. It will be available in the access area for those who want to participate in the service and who, in small numbers, may enter delimited spaces – so as not to create large groups of people and to be able to maintain the distance recommended by the authority.
This year, no other relics or holy relics will be brought from the country or abroad.
Tens of thousands of believers are expected to be in Iasi each year in October to worship the relics of Saint Pia Parascheva, which are removed from the cathedral and then placed in a canopy arranged in the courtyard of the place of worship.
Santa Pía Parascheva is considered the protector of Moldova, and on October 14, when she is the patron saint, she transforms Iasi into the largest pilgrimage center in Romania.
