Romania is facing an acute crisis of oral antidiabetics and they are not the only essential medicines missing from pharmacies. Some officials and pharmacists are tempted to blame patients for allegedly stockpiling.
Digi24 journalists went to several cities to try to buy Siofor, a drug commonly used by diabetics, but the situation has not improved in any city.
The situation in Bacau
Because the drug is not available, pharmacies have brought a replacement. “Orders are made daily, the manufacturer does not have Siofor. We turned to another French product, ”said a pharmacist.
Baia mare
The same response was received here by Digi24 journalists.
– Do you have Siofor?

“Do you have Siofor?”
– Not for the moment.
Buzau and Sibiu
– They don’t have the deposits. You can ask daily, I order daily, but that depends on how much I receive the deposits.

What does the College of Pharmacists say?
Simina Ardelean-Timiș, president of the Maramure Colegio College of Pharmacists: “Unfortunately, the Romanian patient suffers, because he cannot take his medication in the necessary amount and then adjusts and the long-term effects are not what he wants. We still find it difficult to find Euthyrox, some antibiotics, food supplements based on vitamin C, D, zinc are also in more limited quantities. “
Due to the lack of options, some people are already using their knowledge abroad to buy the necessary medicines. Doina Blidar, diagnosed with diabetes and thyroid for over 10 years, has been dealing with this problem for a long time.
Doina Blidar, patient: “And now I come from Hungary. Why is it there and not here and not for a month or two, because it has been a long time, lack of medicine? I need these two diabetes meds and glands, I’m so stressed I’m getting worse. “
