The Russian army reported on Saturday a violation of the armistice that ended the fighting between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the separatist region of Nagorno-Karabakh in November, according to AFP, according to Agerpres.

“A case of violation of the armistice was reported on December 11 (Friday) in the Hadrut district,” said the Russian Defense Ministry, which deployed peacekeepers to the site, according to a statement issued on Saturday.

The remarks come as the Armenian army reported “attacks” by Azerbaijan on two villages that came under the control of Nagorno-Karabakh forces.

In a statement, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry denounced the Armenian “challenges” and added that “appropriate countermeasures” had been taken.
