More than half (56.3%) of education employees do not agree to be vaccinated against COVID-19, according to a survey conducted by the “Spiru Haret” Education Union Federation, to which 13,356 teachers responded. The same survey shows that more than 43% would like to return to classroom courses.
The survey was carried out between December 16 and 21, to know the perception of teachers about the reopening of schools and vaccination against COVID, in the context in which the European Medicines Agency would approve the vaccine on December 23 Pfizer / BioNTech, the first COVID vaccine to use. in the European Union. According to the Vaccination Strategy, in Romania, the first stage will include medical personnel and the second stage will also include employees of the education system.
Soon:
- more than 13,000 educational staff members responded to the questionnaire;
- 56.3% of those surveyed say they do not agree with being vaccinated against Covid-19;
- 43.2% of those surveyed say they want to go back to school and face-to-face teaching before the start of the vaccination campaign.
Who answered the questionnaire:
- 92.6% of those who answered the questionnaire are teachers;
- the majority are in the age category 40 to 49 years (38.3%);
- followed by those in the 50-59 age category (23.3%) and those in the 30-39 age category (21.8%);
- 49% of those surveyed said they are from municipalities with more than 15,000 inhabitants, plus Bucharest;
- 21.7% teach in a city; 29.3% in communes and villages.
Also, the majority of respondents want to reopen schools and return to face-to-face teaching.
So:
- more than 70% of those who answered the questionnaire, more precisely 73.1%, want the reopening of kindergartens;
- 75.7% want students from preparatory classes and I-IV to return to classes;
- 70.6% are for the reopening of schools for students in grades V-VIII;
- 69.4% responded that they want the reopening of secondary schools and vocational schools.
Regarding the time of reincorporation to face-to-face teaching, 43.2% want to return to schools as soon as possible, while 41.4% believe that the resumption of courses should take place once the national vaccination campaign is over. says the cited source.
