After the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, there were 8,262 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19), these being cases that have not previously had a positive test.

As of Tuesday, November 17, in Romania, 373,474 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID – 19) were confirmed.

253,244 patients were declared cured.

Apart from the recently confirmed cases, after reassessment of the patients who were already positive, 497 people were positively reconfirmed.

To date, 9,261 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

Between 16.11.2020 (10:00) and 17.11.2020 (10:00) 186 deaths were reported (110 men and 76 women), of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Argeş, Bacău, Bihor, Bistriţa-Năsăud, Botoşani, Brăila, Braşov, Călăraşi, Constanţa, Dâmboviţa, Dolj, Galaţi, Gorj, Harghita, I Iaşiţa, I Iaşiţaara , Maramureş, Mehedinţi, Mureş, Prahova, Sălaj, Sibiu, Suceava, Teleorman, Timiş, Tulcea, Vaslui and Bucharest.

Of these, 1 death was recorded in the age category 30 to 39 years, 5 deaths in the age category 40 to 49 years, 15 deaths in the age category 50 to 59 years, 45 deaths in the age category age 60 to 69 years, 69 deaths in the age category 70 to 79 years and 51 deaths in the category over 80 years.

182 of the registered deaths were of some patients who presented comorbidities and 4 deceased patients did not present comorbidities.

In health units, the total number of people hospitalized for COVID-19 is 13,292. Of these, 1,174 are hospitalized in ATI.

To date, 3,733,410 tests have been processed nationwide. Of these, 31,082 were carried out in the last 24 hours, 18,868 based on case definition and medical protocol and 12,214 on request.

In Romania, 46,884 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are isolated in their homes and 13,382 people are in institutional isolation. Furthermore, 80,262 people are in home quarantine and 16 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 6,412 calls were registered to the single emergency number 112 and 1,046 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), opened especially to inform citizens.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law No. 55/2020 on some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, on November 16 of this year, 7,633 penalties for minor infractions, worth 1,308,631 lei.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, yesterday 8 crimes were found to frustrate the fight against diseases, a fact foreseen and sanctioned by art. 352 Penal Code.

A new COVID-19 report shows that the number of people infected is decreasing. In addition, the number of people reinfected with SARS-CoV-2 decreased.

COVID-19 deaths

Between the 15.11.2020 (10:00) and the 16.11.2020 (10:00) it was reported 149 deaths (86 men and 63 women), of some patients infected by the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Argeş, Bacău, Bihor, Bistriţa-Năsăud, Botoşani, Brăila, Braşov, Caraş-Severin, Cluj, Constanţa, Dâmboviţa hospitals , Dolj, Galaţi, Gorj, Harghita, Hunedoara, Ialomiţa, Iaşi, Maramureş, Mehedinţi, Mureş, Olt, Prahova, Sălaj, Satu Mare, Sibiu, Suceava, Timiş, Vâlcea, Vaslui, Vrancea and Bucharest.

  • Of these, there was one death in the age category 30 to 39 years, 4 deaths in the age category 40 to 49 years, 7 deaths in the age category 50 to 59 years, 36 deaths in the age category age 60 to 69 years, 50 deaths in the age category 70 to 79 years and 51 deaths in the category over 80 years
  • 141 of the registered deaths were of some patients who presented comorbidities, 5 deceased patients did not present comorbidities and for 3 patients no comorbidities have been reported to date.

Patients admitted to ATI and newly processed tests

In specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized for COVID-19 is 13,467. Of these, 1,187 they are hospitalized in ATI.

To date, 3,702,328 tests have been processed nationwide. Of these, 11,266 were performed in the last 24 hours, 7,499 according to the case definition and medical protocol and 3,767 upon request.

COVID-19 general situation in Romania

In Romania, 47,397 people confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus are in home isolation and 13,229 people are in institutional isolation. In addition, 80,152 people are in home quarantine and 17 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 3,522 calls to the single emergency number 112.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law No. 55/2020 on some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, applied by police and gendarmes, on November 15 of this year, 9,930 penalties for minor offenses, which amounts to 1,988,595 lei.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, 7 crimes were found yesterday to frustrate the fight against diseases, a fact foreseen and sanctioned by art. 352 Penal Code.

We remind the public that the Ministry of the Interior has put into operation, as of 04/07/2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where infractions to sanitary protection regulations can be notified. The calls are answered by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for the verification of the notified aspects.

The situation of Romanians abroad

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, it was confirmed that 6,862 Romanian citizens were infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (coronavirus): 1,934 in Italy, 1,253 in Spain, 124 in France, 3,018 in Germany, 167 in the Kingdom United, 36 in Hungary, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the US, 123 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 8 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 93 in Greece, 9 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine, 8 in the United Arab Emirates and one in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Sweden, Republic of the Congo, Qatar, Vatican, Portugal and Egypt. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and so far, 126 Romanian citizens abroad, 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the United States, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of Congo and one in Greece, they have died.

Of the Romanian citizens confirmed as infected with the new coronavirus, 797 were declared cured: 677 in Germany, 90 in Greece, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.
