The “Scrap for household appliances” program will be complemented by two new product categories, namely tablets and laptops, the new Minister of the Environment, Water and Forests, Mircea Fechet said on Thursday at the handover conference.
However, the minister did not provide further details on the start date of this program.
“In the” Scrap metal for household appliances “program we will finance seven product categories. We will encourage Romanians to give up old energy-consuming electrical equipment and buy new equipment with a higher energy class. Here I would like to announce a novelty: In addition to the seven categories that we have in the public debate today, after the comments of the citizens, after the consultations we have had and in the context of the pandemic in which we find ourselves, we will add two new categories, namely tablets and “Romanians, in exchange for an old computer, a monitor, to be able to receive a bonus in order to encourage the purchase of equipment that consumes less energy, “said Fechet.
The dignitary also announced that more than 11,200 Romanians applied for the “Energy Efficiency House” program, while more than 1,000 mayors have registered for the “Public lighting” program.
Also in terms of good news, I tell you that more than 11,200 Romanians have already applied for the “House of Energy Efficiency”. We are talking about thermal insulation, changing the insulating windows, replacing the thermal power plant with a more energy efficient one or even changing the lighting in the house for a more efficient one. “We are proposing the same with another program for the first time, that of ‘Public Lighting’, where more than a thousand municipalities have applied and where it has already evaluated more than a third of the applications submitted”. said the corresponding minister.
