UPDATE 13:50

PSD president Marcel Ciolacu accuses the Orban government of using the police for political purposes. The Social Democratic leader assures that he will pay the fine, after he was photographed, along with several people, at a meal in a restaurant in Buzau.

“Orban and his people use the Romanian police for political purposes. It’s a shame! That shows how desperate they are and how low they are! I didn’t see a police press conference when Orban and his ministers were drinking and partying in government while Romanians were locked up in houses. Not even when NLP leaders held political parades and meetings with hundreds of people, “wrote Marcel Ciolacu on Facebook on Sunday.

He said he was having dinner with his family, and at one point several colleagues sat down to eat. Ciolacu admits that “this should not have happened.”

“In fact, things are like this: Buzau County is on the green stage, so it is allowed to operate indoor restaurants. Also, according to the law, it is not mandatory to wear a mask on the table. I had lunch with my family and “At one point, several colleagues came to dinner with us. I know this shouldn’t have happened, not even for a few minutes. So this morning I sent all the data to the police to those at the table. I’ll pay the fine.” It is a rule that we all must follow, ”the social democrat also wrote on the social network.

The Romanian Police spokesman, Commissioner Georgian Dragan, stated that the Buzau policemen were notified of the presence of several people in a restaurant in Sărata Monteoru, among whom was the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Marcel Ciolacu.

„Considering the information and images that circulate in public space, regarding the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55 regarding some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, both the president of the Chamber of Deputies and other people, we make the following clarifications: Last night, after a notification about the presence of several people at a table , in a place within the town of Sărata Monteoru, Buzău county, the policemen of the Rural Police Station Merei- IPJ Buzău, went to carry out controls, in terms of compliance with the regulations in force on the prevention of infection by the Sars-Cov 2 virus, “said Georgian Dragan.

According to him, the police officers who arrived at the restaurant found 6 people, 3 inside and 3 outside the place, and later all the participants were identified.

“3 of the 6 people were representatives of the economic operator and it was found that they did not wear a protective mask, in places where it was mandatory, for which they were punished for minor offenses. Subsequently, controls were carried out, after which all the people who appear in the images of the public space were identified, being these punished for minor offenses, because there were more than 6 people at a table, ”the Romanian Police spokesman also said. .

The restaurant representative was also fined for failing to take steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The total value of the fines applied is 21,000 lei.

„I predict that the respective locality is in the green scenario, therefore, economic operators can carry out economic activities, respecting the general norms of sanitary protection. The sanctions for contravention were applied for non-compliance with the legal norms regarding the total number of people who can be at the same table, respectively 6 ”, added Drăgan.

In the images published by the local Buzău press, together with Marcel Ciolacu, former Prime Minister Mihai Tudose and Lucian Romaşcanu are also sitting at the table.
