Medical student who committed a shocking crime received the easiest detention regimen

Carmen Bejan and Sergiu Florea are the students who killed and beheaded a man in a bedroom in Timisoara. The two first-year students from the Timisoara Medical School were arrested on August 2, 2009, for particularly serious homicide and, respectively, complicity in murder. The two were accused of killing 65-year-old Trifu Schroth.

It appears that the young woman had agreed to have sex with the man, but then Scroth was killed by the students as a result of misunderstandings about the money they were to receive.

The young men took the body, put it in a closet and went to a supermarket on the outskirts of the city to buy plastic bags and a suitcase to store the body, which they later cut up. The youths’ plan was to put the victim’s body in their own car and set it on fire.

At around 4:00, they left the bedroom with the suitcase containing the victim’s lying body. The traces of blood left in the corridor aroused the suspicion of the doorman, who informed the police. According to the law, open regime detainees can work, inside and outside the prison, without supervision, having the obligation to return to the place of accommodation once the program has finished.

With the transition to open mode, Carmen Bejan can go out every day, unsupervised, to go to work for eight hours. In such a situation, the detainee must follow a well-established path and follow a set of rules.

If he remains in the penitentiary, the detainees who execute the sentences in an open regime will be able to keep the rooms open both day and night, having free access in the places and areas established by the penitentiary administration.

The detainee participated in various re-education programs and worked for 374 days. Currently, the former student works in the vegetable greenhouses of the Gherla penitentiary.

“The detainee showed a constant interest in carrying out educational and lucrative activities and had an appropriate behavior, it is enough to consider that she made serious efforts for her reintegration into society,” reads the decision by which Carmen Bejan was changed. semi-open to open detention regime.

Prison administration sources told Adevarul.ro that the next step after obtaining the modification of the detention regime is probation, the former student having the possibility of entering the probation commission within a maximum period of one year.
